Free Verse

Glancing through a snowy forest thickened with tall dark trees,
Some straight, some not, all hovered silently above early morning blue-lit snow

I quickly traveled decades back, and a single deer emerged, sneaking through the trees
Pausing cautiously to inspect its surroundings before stepping forward again

The only noise a whisper, a heartbeat, a shot... and then so quickly all quiet again
The days past so faint yet as magical as that deer walking through the many trees
